Linden Barnes - Law Society of NSW
Topic: Ethics

Linden has been an ethics solicitor with the Law Society for 7 years now, following a career in insurance litigation and in house corporate roles. She deals with ethical issues including conflicts, confidentiality and officer of court obligations, both through telephone guidance services and also presentations and publications.

Stefan Mueller - Barrister, Newcastle Chambers and Denman Chambers
Topic: Employment

Stefan qualified as a legal practitioner by the Ministry for Justice Baden-W├╝rttemberg in Germany, Stefan worked as in-house counsel for a national peak body, the German Council of Trade Unions until he migrated to Australia in 2003.

He obtained his Australian legal qualification while working as in-house counsel for a major trade union in Sydney and was admitted as a solicitor in 2010.

Prior to being called to the Bar in 2017, Stefan worked as a solicitor in private practice in Newcastle.  Stefan is based in Newcastle where he lives with his family, but also practices from Denman Chambers in central Sydney.

Pat Williams - Barrister, Newcastle Chambers
Topic: Professional Skills

Pat graduated from Newcastle University in 2012 with Honours, having earlier completed a Bachelor of Arts.

Following graduation Pat worked in Newcastle for a national insurance law firm in a litigation practice. In that field, Pat was involved in complex commercial litigation involving a variety of different areas of law, including public liability common law disputes, workers’ compensation matters, motor accidents and aviation law. Pat’s clients were primarily insurance companies and local government entities.

During the course of that time Pat was regularly running District Court and Supreme Court litigation, and appearing in those jurisdictions. Pat was also involved in a number of coronial inquests.

Pat is the current Secretary of the Newcastle Bar Association.
